In this year (1907) the Imperial Service Medal was presented to Mr Goh Song Tian (in the Chinese translation of Song's book, it is translated as 吳桑田), who had retired on pension, in November of the previous year, from the post of Storekeeper and Chinese Interpreter, Marine Department, after 26 years' service. This appears to have been the first instance of the award of this medal to a Chinese public servant for long, faithful and meritorius service.
