Summary: Three tombs of a Seet 薛 family from Zhangpu 漳浦 are recorded at Bukit Brown, Block 1 Division D. The first is the stone of Madam Goh 吳節儉, mother of Seet Soon Teck, dated the 2nd lunar month of Guangxu 28 (March to April 1902). The second is the stone of Seet Soon Teck 薛順德 himself, dated the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of Xuantong 1 (26 January 1909), with his sons Chee Beng 志明, Chee Tiong 志忠 and Chee Guan 志源 named on it. The third is the English stone of his son Seet Chee Beng, who died on 13 May 1924 aged 43 and was buried at Block 1 D, Plot 36. The Straits Times of 11 April 1910 carries an item on the auction of the estate of Seet Soon Teck, held after his death.

1. Seet Soon Teck's personal name is written 𢁉德 on his own stone and 順德 on his mother's stone.
2. The tomb inscriptions are in Chinese only. The romanised names are given beside the Chinese for reference.
3. Chee Siang 志祥 is named on his grandmother's stone but not on his father's.
4. The date 16 May 1924 on the English stone is the date of interment in the burial register, three days after Chee Beng's death on 13 May 1924.

Background 背景
The family's stones span three generations. The stone dated 1902 names Seet Soon Teck as the filial son of Madam Goh, with two daughters, four grandsons and a granddaughter. The stone of 1909 names three sons, one grandson and two granddaughters. In April 1910 the estate of Seet Soon Teck was put up for auction after his death. His son Seet Chee Beng, born around 1881 (calculated from age 43 in 1924), died on 13 May 1924.
