Ma Chong
媽忠
Ma Chong (媽忠) was a woman of indigenous or tribal origin, as indicated by the 畨 marker on her tombstone, who married into the Chua (Cai 蔡) family. She passed away in 1834 during the Daoguang reign of the Qing dynasty. Her tomb represents one of the documented cases of intermarriage between Chinese settler families and indigenous Nusantara peoples in early colonial Singapore and the Malay archipelago, providing evidence of cross-cultural unions during this period.
