Mr. Tan Siak Kew (陈锡九), Vice-President (1950-1952) and later President of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce (1952-1954, 1956-1958). He was Director (1952-1958) and later Managing Director and Chairman of Sze Hai Tong Bank Limited (1962-1964); Governing Director of Buan Lee Seng Limited (1952-1971); Nominated Member of Legislative Assembly of Singapore (1958-1959); Chairman of Singapore Chinese Produce Exchange (1948-1966) and Four Seas Communications Bank Limited (1964-1975); President of Ngee Ann Kongsi (1965); Vice-Chairman (1953-1954, 1957-1958), Chairman (1955-1956, 1965-1966) and Honorary Chairman of Singapore Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan (1969-1976); and the first ambassador to Thailand (1966-1967). He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1964. Title devised by Library staff.
