Tan Hong Beng was the founding president of the Lion
City Club whereas Chua Keh Hai was the Hon Treasurer.
The society was set up for the promotion of social intercourses for physical improvement for the Straits Chinese members of Kampong Bahru Road . The club lasted till at least the early 1940s below WW2
