SUICIDE VERDICT

After recording further evidence, the Singapore Coroner, Mr W McQuarrie, returned a verdict of suicide regarding the death of Chia Seng Quee, the Straits-born Chinese man who fell from the roof of the Bank of China building on the morning of Nov 24.
The deceased, who was a family man, had been employed by the Great Eastern Life Insurance Company for a number of years.
In her evidence, the widow said that he had been ill with malaria a few days before the tragedy. He had no financial worries of which she was aware

The aunt of the Prime Minister, Mrs Chia Seng Quee, passed away due to a heart condition yesterday approx 20 hrs after the death of her elder sister, Mrs Lee Chin Koon, who was the mother of Lee Kuan Yew.
Mrs Chia, the second younger sister of Mrs Lee, collapsed suddenly besides her sister's coffin at around 8.15 pm. A family member stated that Mrs Chia was deeply grieved over the passing of her sister when she collpased.
She leaves behind a son, Cheng Poh, three daughters, Poh Neo, Cheng Neo and Hian Neo, as well as 11 grandchildren
